The right to live independently and be included in society is closely related to other human rights, including the right to equality and protection from discrimination, respect for physical and mental integrity, liberty, protection from degrading treatment or punishment, autonomy, legal personality, privacy and family life, and freedom of movement. However, the right to a full life in society is more than just the sum of these rights.
The right to a meaningful life in society depends directly on the functioning of the education, health care, social security, and labor markets, as well as on the accessibility of public places and public services. However, it is not only the accessibility of infrastructure that determines a society’s fullness of life.
