The Impact of Understanding the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on the Measures Taken to Implement Them

Most people take their participation in the daily life of society for granted and do not even think about it. However, this is not the case with people with disabilities.

Entrenched prejudices, lack of access to infrastructure, technology, services and social structures, and lack of support from society all contribute to the exclusion and isolation of people with disabilities. In many countries, people with disabilities are forced to live in special institutions that isolate them from the rest of society, while they are at risk of exploitation, violence and humiliation. A huge number of people with disabilities are physically present in society, but in reality are deprived of the opportunity to fully participate in public life due to the lack of necessary services or integration mechanisms.

Despite the fact that in many states the problem of the isolation and isolation of people with disabilities still exists, some countries are still taking certain steps aimed at eliminating this long-standing injustice. It is a long process: ensuring independent living for people with disabilities and their inclusion in society requires social reforms, which can only be carried out with the necessary budget, the participation of various stakeholders, and concerted action at the level of ministries and local governments.
